Exercise: el / la articles in Spanish with people

Articles: El / La with people

As you probably know, Spanish nouns have a masculine or feminine gender.

Singular definite articles for people: "El" and "La"

The definite articles for singular nouns are "el" for masculine and "la" for feminine. While this is the general rule, there may be exceptions.

Nouns that refer to people usually vary in gender depending on the sex of the person. For example, if the noun refers to a male individual, the gender of the noun is masculine and if the noun refers to a female individual, the gender of the noun is feminine. This applies to professions, nationalities, and relationships as well.
